'To save a life is as you have saved the world.'
                                      --The Talmud

Thank you for helping us reach out and touch lives. Here are a few ways you can help JFS maintain its high-quality services now and into the future:

Send a Tribute--you can make a tax-deductible "tribute" gift for $10 or more to acknowledge a special occasion, or in honor or memory of a loved one. Gifts can be designated for any of the following funds:

  • General Fund: Supports all current Jewish Family Services programs and services, including: counseling, case management, community education and outreach.

  • Emergency Fund: Provides emergency financial assistance on a case by case basis.

  • Holiday Fund: Funds holiday programs and packages for the homebound and nursing home residents. Also funds holiday gifts for individuals and families in need.

  • Jeremy Love Memorial Fund: Supports JFS’s educational and mitzvah-oriented youth programs. Jeremy Love, the son of Linda and Chuck Love, died at age 17 in 1994. He was an active member of Temple Beth Israel and was dedicated to working with youth in its religious school as well as in the larger York community.

  • Project Manna Fund: Sustains the kosher food pantry, known as Project Manna, that helps individuals and families in need.

  • Evelyn M. Samuelsohn Senior Adult Case Management Fund: Evelyn Samuelsohn, who died in December 2007, lived in York for more than five decades. A grocery business entrepreneur, she was known as a constant benefactor of Jewish programs. She maintained her community support, and membership in Temple Beth Israel, even after retiring to Florida. She promoted social activities geared for seniors and the fund supports work that enhances the lives of seniors.

  • Staying Connected Fund: Supports Staying Connected, the Faith in Action program overseen by JFS. Volunteers from the Jewish community and Catholic, Episcopalian, Lutheran and Unitarian Universalist congregations provide supportive services to help elders remain independent in their own homes.

Become a Friend, through our annual Friends Campaign, by making a tax-deductible gift to Jewish Family Services.

Donate life insurance by contributing an existing policy or buying a new policy. Your family will receive significant tax benefits while you ensure the continuation of life-sustaining services.

In your will, name JFS as a beneficiary of your estate.

  Donate appreciated stock.

Donate your used car if it's in working condition. Call toll-free 1-877-537-4227.

Purchase Food Basket Centerpieces. Beautifully decorated centerpieces for your special occasion benefit the JFS "Project Manna" food pantry, York's only Kosher food pantry. Ribbons can be done in just about any color. Table centerpiece baskets cost $36 each, and bimah (temple altar) baskets are $72 each. They're as pretty as flowers, but better for the environment -- and those in need in our community!
