"The satisfaction of helping another human being defies description."

                                     --- JFS Volunteer

Volunteers have been the lifeline of Jewish Family Services since its inception in 1988. You can make an important difference in the life of a needy child, an older adult living independently, or a person with a disability. You can also help the agency function by providing clerical and administrative support.  And if you have special talents or interests, talk to us; we're sure we can put them to good use. Just give us a call at 843-5011.

Staying Connected

Staying Connected volunteers provide transportation, shopping and errands, friendly visits, telephone reassurance and advocacy. Volunteers receive training, and share the work with those of different faiths who find common ground in helping their neighbors.

"Project Manna" Food Pantry

Volunteers play an essential role in food distribution, collection, shelving and bagging. Volunteers also deliver food to home-bound clients.

Our Daily Bread

Volunteers work at the local soup kitchen several times a year.

Rebecca's Bounty

Volunteers pick up leftover food from community events and deliver to the soup kitchen.

Youth Mitzvah Projects

Jewish youth of all affiliations come together to learn the value of doing good in our community. Recent projects include refurbishing York's historic Jewish cemetery, and joining with our local Jewish War Veterans to mark the graves of the deceased on Memorial Day.
